From time to time, my clients want to send me large files. Since I work remotely, the clients send me large files via cloud storage services. Here are some services I’ve been using for a few years.
Google Drive
Google Drive is a file storage and synchronization service by Google. With Google Drive, you can store and share files and folders from your computer, tablet, and mobile. It is easy to use and it is secure access to your content. I mainly use Slack with my clients. And Drive is integrated into Slack. It just makes my life easier. Drive offers two plans. One is for personal which allows you to store the files up to 15 GB per user(free). Another one is for business standard which allows you to store the files up to 2 TB per user. You can also send the share link via Gmail and let your team clicks the link and download the files. Here is how to send&save large attachments in Drive.
Microsoft OneDrive
Microsoft OneDrive is a file hosting service by Microsoft. It does the same as Google Drive does. You can store files and you can access and share from a computer, tablet, or mobile. There are two plans which are for home and for business. For a home with a free plan, it offers you 5 GB(free). Of cause, you can pay monthly for more storage.
Dropbox
Dropbox is a file hosting service. I personally use Dropbox as well. You can access and share the files from any device. Dropbox is integrated with Slack as well. So it is convenient for me to share large files with the team in Slack.
Dropbox offers a basic free plan for 2 GB of storage. Dropbox also offers paid plan for storage and features.
WeTransfer
WeTransfer is a file transfer service. It allows you to upload your file. Enter the recipient’s address. Then you send your file. Or you can send a download link to your team. Your team just clicks on the download link and receives the file. Simple like that. I’ve been using WeTransfer and never had any issues. WeTransfer offers three plans which are Free, Pro, and Premium plan. The Free plan can send up to 2GB. The Pro plan which is 10$ per month, allows you to send and receive up to 200 GB. You also have 1 TB storage per person. The Pro plan is good for sending large files regularly.
Box
Box is cloud-based content management, collaboration, and file sharing tool. As same as major cloud storage such as Google Drive, Dropbox, and OneDrive, you can access and share files on any device. The box is integrated with Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace as well. So if you use these tools, you can share the files via Box easies.
Box offers many plans to fit your need. The individual free plan allows you to store the file up to 10 GB of storage. But there is a 250 MB file upload limit. However, you can upgrade to a paid plan to upgrade the upload limit as well. I never used Box service but It seems popular along with other cloud services I mention above.
Wrap up
Working with a team or clients, sometimes you or your team or your clients need to send large files (any type of files). Also, your files need to be secure while they store on the cloud storage. Also, the files need to be secure while transferring to the receivers. I hope this post is helpful. See you next time.
